Hello, I'm Angeline

I am an experienced Christchurch legal practitioner, working from Walker St Chambers.
I have 27 years specialising in family law, and more recently (the last 10 years) assisting people with their employment law issues. My advice is practical, robust and client focussed.
After the past 11 years being a partner in a Christchurch firm, I have moved towards focussing on the clients themselves, rather than the other aspects of running a firm. It provides me with the opportunity to tailor my workload to give the best possible service.
I am married with one teenage son and two crazy dogs. At the weekends I enjoy getting out and about in the hills, riding my bike or playing the piano (although, not all at once).

If you wish me to represent you, call me on 021617571 or email me,
and I will explain the process for that.
"I have a particular passion for helping people through difficult and stressful situations, while at the same time maintaining a collaborative approach."

Family Law
A relationship breakup can feel as painful as a death in the family, but it does not have to involve years of litigation and stress.
The best possible solution is to get legal assistance before anything goes wrong. If that is not possible, the next best thing is to engage a lawyer at the earliest opportunity. They will guide you through the steps that need to be taken, at a pace that is comfortable for you.
There are a few family lawyers in Christchurch trained in Collaborative Dispute Resolution, and I am one of them. It is a process involving the removal of Court from the situation. The lawyers and clients work together to get an outcome that works for all.
If Court is necessary however, I will guide you through the Court process. I have attended countless mediations and hearings for both family and employment cases.
"Because I am an experienced lawyer for children, I know the potential negative outcomes for your children, but these can be avoided, and I can help you navigate your way through."
Employment Law
I have often found that the potential angst in employment law matters can be similar to that experienced during a relationship breakup. But it does not need to be that way. With expert advice in advance of and during a process, you can avoid potential problems before they occur.
Employers
For employers, I can assist in the preparation of suitable tailor-made policies and agreements, prepare all necessary documentation for redundancy procedures, investigations, disciplinary matters and so on and advocate for you in the Employment Relations Authority.
Employees
For employees, I can advise on a new employment agreement you have received, provide advice/advocacy in difficult employment situations and run personal grievances through to a suitable conclusion.
Having been an employer myself, I understand that these matters can be a quagmire of risk. Having also been an employee I understand how overwhelming it can be.
Fees
Yes, I do charge for all work I do, regardless of the outcome. This is because you will always receive valuable advice, even if the advice is that your case is not a strong one.
You will know what I will charge before I charge it, and you will receive regular updates if the fees are going to necessarily be higher than anticipated.
Every situation is unique, so I should be able to give you an estimate of the likely charges after our first appointment for initial advice. Generally, those initial appointments will be somewhere in the range of $300 to $400 plus GST, depending on complexity and the time taken.
